This is such a neat piece of hardware.It's a spring gate stationary snap hook with a built-in cord end. The hook is a modified lobster claw. You simply push it in to open. The cord end opening is 3/8" wide, and will accommodate fabric or leather straps that are up to 4 mm thick. The hook end will accommodate a ring that's up to 4 mm thick. The strap is held in place with two tiny screws. I use a dab of a strong fabric glue too, for added assurance. Overall measurements are 1-1/4" long, 7/16" wide, and 5 mm thick.
